About Olympic View Community Foundation

The Olympic View Community Foundation (OVCF) is a non-profit Washington corporation located in Sequim. OVCF was formed as an outgrowth of the accomplishments of the Sequim 2000, which was formed in 1995 as a division of the Chamber of Commerce. The original purpose of the group was to raise funds to support the beautification of Sequim, which was undergoing a downtown renaissance. Sound Community Bank’s “Sequim 2000 VISA Card” was the original source of funds and continues to provide funds with what is now the “Helping Non-Profits” MasterCard (1% of all purchases made by card holders is returned to local community-based non-profits through our Community Grants Program).

Incorporated in September 2000, the focus of the Foundation was the growth of organized philanthropy to encourage and enrich the quality of life in the Sequim-Dungeness Valley. Today,  OVCF has given 115 grants to 42 local organizations, totaling more than $320,000. Volunteer board members of the foundation and the executive director assist the community, administer the local grants program, manage the donor funds and more.

Major Milestones

In the spring of 2011, OVCF with Sound Community Bank, hosted a celebration for the achievement of a major milestone. Sound Community Bank, at that time had donated $300,000 to the community through the Foundation from 1% of purchases made with SCB’s “Helping Non-Profits” MasterCard holders since 2000. In January 2011, OVCF achieved the hard-earned National Standards for U.S. Community Foundations and was awarded certification by the National Council on Foundations.
