Friends of CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates)
Friends of C.A.S.A. is a volunteer fundraising and support group that provides assistance for foster youth in the Clallam County C.A.S.A. program (Court Appointed Special Advocates).
Funds are used for items and programs such as basic necessities, shoes and clothing, sports fees and uniforms, music and art classes, extracurricular activities, and many other purposes that allow full participation by foster children.
Alumni of the foster care system have often felt “different” because of the type of clothes they wore, and because they didn’t have the money to join a team or go on a field trip. They may not have had school pictures taken, or the uniform required to sing in the choir. Many foster children experience shame or embarrassment as a result of their foster care situation; it is the goal of Friends of CASA to mitigate these things as much as possible!
Annual fundraising events include a golf tournament and “Kicks for Kids” shoe drive, but donations from community members are most welcome and appreciated throughout the year, and are used for a variety of foster care needs that are not provided by the state or the childrens’ placement families.
Olympic View Community Foundation is proud to serve as the non-profit Fiscal Sponsor for this caring local group of volunteers who provide for the needs of some of our county’s most vulnerable children.
